If you would like to change the color completely of your metal pieces and charms. Here is a easy way! You can get lots of different color variations.
Sophisticated Finishes is made by Triangle Crafts and is what is known as a surfacer, it can be found at Micheals, and at most craft stores. It will completely cover your metal pieces. You can use the Sophisticated Finishes alone, however, I like to add metallic powders by Jacquard for greater dept and a metallic finish. On the metal piece above I used Gold Metallic Surfacer and copper powder and painted it on with a sponge brush. Three parts Sophisticated Finishes to one part copper powder. If you want more definition in your charm, add some dark brown or black staz-on (solvent based ink) after it dries.
Sophisticated Finishes in Silver mixed with blue and green Jacquard Powders has a wonderful effect also. Play and create the colors you want. This is a wonderful way to add continuity to your project.

Altered art is a wonderful medium to work in. You can use recycled products, antique new products, add charms, yarns, papers, lots of things to give the art texture. The important thing to make the art work is the continuity of color. In April I spoke of using a solvent based ink to change the dept of metal added to your decoupage and altered art pieces.
